Building Excellence, Maintaining Trust
Who Am I?
My name is Sami Malhas. I am a Husband, Father, and Craftsman.
I have always been driven to explore the world on my own terms. As a kid in the ‘80s and ‘90s, my world was defined by my bike. I spent my days riding until dusk, pushing further into my neighborhood and the outdoors, always looking for the next adventure.
That early sense of freedom stayed with me as I entered adulthood—I never stopped exploring…
A Chef by default…
While working as a chef, I constantly felt a friction in my career. There was a deep clash between my drive to create my own work and the rigid constraints of commercial kitchens, which often kept me from delivering the top-notch, uncompromised quality I believed customers truly deserved.
As my son, Jackson, grew older, my priorities crystallized: I knew I needed a career path that gave me the independence to be a full-time dad.
The Family Man
As I navigated early adulthood, my vision for the future began to take shape after meeting my wife, Krystl, in a college math class. That connection anchored me and set the foundation for the family man I wanted to become. But it was the birth of my son, Jackson, that truly changed everything. I grew into the man I am today because I knew he needed a father he could look up to.
Independence and Integrity.
That drive for precision and independence found a proving ground in my career as a farrier. Working with people's horses—animals that meant the world to their owners—taught me the true meaning of high-stakes accuracy and personal accountability. When you are responsible for a living animal's health, mobility, and foundation, there is zero room for guesswork.
Precision is Everything…
If your alignment or angles are off by even a fraction, the horse suffers. That work instilled in me a relentless work ethic and the understanding that true integrity isn't about what people see; it’s the standard you hold yourself to when no one is watching, ensuring you provide the best possible care every single time.
Sink or Swim…
That same grit was tested on an entirely different scale when I bought a 100-year-old house. What started as an old home quickly turned into an exhaustive, down-to-the-studs gut remodel.
I tackled everything from stripping outdated framing to running modern electrical wiring, learning every structural layer from the foundation up. It was a trial by fire in patience, problem-solving, and the realities of residential construction.
It all came together…
Through it all, my core priority has never wavered: being a present, full-time dad. EmberScale Carpentry & Design was a natural evolution.
The years spent rebuilding my own house forged the skills that allowed me to launch this business. I learned by doing, I was tested by reality, and I gained my experience by seeing every project through to the finish line.
Creating EmberScale gives me the independence to dictate my schedule and be there for Jackson, while delivering honest, high-quality work to our community.
